Press Release - China 2010
Who syas the wine industry is under pressure? Not for us at Paulett Wines!
Neil and Alison have just returned from a two week promotional trip to Hong Kong and mainland China. They hit the road with Frank Pan of Wollemi Fine Wines with wonderful results.
Frank is a passionate lover and advocate for Australian wines and we at Pauletts have been very fortunate to have established with him a happy, solid and enduring relationship.
The trip started in Hong Kong with dinner at Macau Jockey Club. To follow were dinners and promotions at Hainan Island, Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing and Shenzhen before returning to Hong Kong and thence home.
Without exception the Paulett range of wines were given great acclaim. The Trillians Sparkling Riesling and the 2009 Polish Hill River Riesling were favoured the most in the whites whilst the Polish Hill River Shiraz, Cabernet Merlot and Andreas Shiraz were all consumed with great enthusiasm and pleasure.
As we would expect, the Andreas was very highly regarded and great support was also given to our Shiraz. Because of the Chinese familiarity and respect of the premier Bordeaux Chateaus more discussion was needed with our Cabernet blend. Interestingly though this wine evoked great discussion and was liked and appreciated by many. Some were of the mind set though that Australia is "Shiraz" and took more convincing.
Frank is a wonderful educator and through his interpreting put the Paulett story and wishes to great effect.
China is not an easy market but the partnership of Wollemi Fine Wines and Paulett Wines will ensure success. We are in the process of building and establishing our brand within the Chinese market. This will take time, dedication and patients and as a team this is achievable.
Neil and Alison have returned home full of enthusiasm and confidence in the future of China as a consumer of Australian wine.
An amazing country.
